When did you start playing melodica?

What is your playing level?

What musical genres are you interested in?

Almost all, but especially Jazz and Classical.

What is your musical background?

Intermediate level classical piano.

What melodicas do you play?

My go-to keyboard harmonicas are the Yamaha P-32D and Suzuki M-32C. But I am currently experimenting with vintage models, mostly from the 1960s-1970s and including Hohner melodicas, Suzuki melodions, and Yamaha pianicas.

Anything to add?

I took up the melodica mainly to work on Jazz standards, learn to play by ear, improve my music reading skills, and work on improvisation. I have developed an interest in the instrument itself and disassemble my melodicas and do some tuning. I work a lot with Band-in-a-Box. My approach to playing since I took up the melodica has been influenced a lot by Kenny Werner’s Effortless Mastery: Liberating the Musician Within.
